Claude Science – The Next Generation for AI Research

Anthropic recently introduced Claude Science, a new AI platform designed to help researchers manage complex scientific projects by searching trusted sources (connecting to more than 60 scientific databases), analyzing information, and producing well-documented results. One of its features is a built-in review process that checks citations and calculations while capturing the information needed to reproduce the work, which is a critical expectation across healthcare and scientific research. While the platform is currently focused on pharmaceutical and life sciences research, the tool is worth watching for CME/CE professionals. The capabilities of this platform align closely with expectations for evidence of integrity, independence, and consistency in process.

Communicating the Value of Accredited CME/CE

The ACCME, in collaboration with Joint Accreditation, has launched the Committed To campaign to highlight the principles that underpin accredited continuing education (CME/CE) and interprofessional continuing education (IPCE), including independence, evidence-based content, scientific integrity, and accountability to accreditation standards. The initiative encourages accredited providers to communicate not only their commitment to these principles, but also the processes that support them. The campaign comes at a time when trust in scientific information and healthcare education remains a significant focus across the healthcare landscape. While participation is voluntary, the campaign provides communication resources that organizations may use to explain how accredited education is developed and why it is designed to support high-quality patient care.

Responsible AI Requires an Equity Lens

In a recent Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association “Voices in Healthcare” piece, guest speakers argue that as healthcare organizations expand their use of artificial intelligence (AI), success should be measured not only by efficiency, but also by equity, transparency, and trust. For CME/CE audiences, that message underscores the need to go beyond basic AI literacy and include education on responsible AI governance, bias recognition, ethical decision-making, and monitoring for unintended disparities. The core point is that AI can only improve care if it is implemented with an equity lens and with attention to real-world effects across patient populations. In that context, accredited CME/CE can help clinicians use AI more thoughtfully, safely, and equitably.
